History

The story of Jastožera begins in the late 1883. In course of the Austro-Hungarian rule, the Italian customs offi cer who was employed here, decided to make the Jastožera, in order to breed lobsters. As he used the government money for the construction of the same, as misfortune would have it, he was soon brought to light and imprisoned.

Thus the Jastožera became the property of Ivan Marinković, at that time one of the most famous architects and constructors of lighthouses on the island of Palagruža. At that time, Marinković carried out works on the Jastožera, he took the opportunity and bought it on auction.
